WILLIAM REID STAKES DAY @

MOONEE VALLEY

TRACK: GOOD 4 or soft 5 - RAIL: TRUE

Saturday at The Valley is serving up an absolute feast for racing fans, with 11 races locked in and the spotlight firmly on the Group 1 William Reid Stakes—a true Autumn Carnival highlight.

Big names like Miss Andretti, Black Caviar, Sunlight, and Imperatriz have all stamped their class in this race, and 2025 promises to deliver another cracking edition.

Conditions?

Expect a Soft 5 or Good 4 by jump time, with rail in the true. That usually means a fair go for most runners, but historically, those settling in the first half of the field at The Valley tend to get the better run. No huge on-pace bias predicted though, so don’t be scared to back something with a turn of foot.

It’s a rare 11-race card in Melbourne, kicking off from 12:15pm AEDT, and while it’s shaping as a tricky day for punters, there’s still plenty of value floating around—if you’re willing to dig.

Let’s break down the best horses to follow and where the smart money might land this weekend. 🔥🔥🔥

RACE 1: 10. Dschingis Prestige (FR) (2)

Trainer:S.W.Wilde - Jockey:D.W.Stackhouse - Weight: 55kg

Dschingis Prestige silks

Hit the line strongly first-up over 2040m at The Valley when chasing home the in-form Inevitable Award, finishing clearly ahead of the rest.

Second-up last prep placed over 2000m at Caulfield, so this looks the logical progression.

Draws for a sweet run, fitter now, and will relish the extra distance.

RACE 2: 2. Prestige Forever (5)

Trainer:D.Brideoake & M.Jenkins - Jockey:J.Mott - Weight: 58kg

Prestige Forever silks

Solid debut effort in the Listed Festival Stakes, sitting on speed and sticking on gamely behind the sharp Shining Smile.

Did plenty wrong pre-race and with the blinkers on, but still held her ground like a professional.

Dam was a prolific winner and this filly looks to have inherited some of that grit.

RACE 3: 13. Top Calibre (12)

Trainer:A.G.Rae - Jockey:C.Williams - Weight: 57.5kg

Top Calibre silks

Unbeaten in first prep and returned with a strong effort fresh at Flemington, finishing 3rd behind Pivot City after being held up at a key stage.

Trainer:L.Howley - Jockey:C.Newitt - Weight: 57kg

Opening Address silks

Fair first-up in the CS Hayes when midfield and held ground late.

Trainer:B. & W. & JD.Hayes - Jockey:L.Currie - Weight: 56kg

Two strong efforts this prep, placing in both the Desirable and Kewney Stakes.

Trainer:M.W.Walker - Jockey:D.W.Stackhouse - Weight: 57kg

Improved sharply second-up when charging home for third in the G3 Mannerism, after a plain return in the Bellmaine when never in it.

Third-up now, a proven winning scenario, and looks ready to peak.

Gets in well at the weights and the rise in trip suits. Solid bet.

RACE 9: 7. She's Bulletproof (8)

Trainer:C.J.Littlefield - Jockey:C.Williams - Weight: 56.5kg

She's Bulletproof jockey silks

Outstanding in the Oakleigh Plate when finishing 2nd, wide run throughout but stuck on bravely.

Prior to that, dominant winner of the G3 Bellmaine, putting a quality field away with ease.

Third-up and flying, with a soft jumpout since to tick over.

RACE 10: 8. Scillato (3)

Trainer:L. & S.Hope - Jockey:C.J.Parish - Weight: 57kg

Scillato silks

Progressive filly chasing a hat-trick after two stylish wins.

Took over with authority at Bendigo then fought strongly while laying in to win again last start.

Still doing things wrong but ability is evident. Hard to knock and must be considered.

___________________

RACE 11: 10. Mytemptation (6)

Trainer:E.Jusufovic - Jockey:C.Williams - Weight: 54kg

Mytemptation silks

Unbeaten colt who resumed with a strong win first-up, stalking the speed and pouncing late.

Did plenty wrong last prep and still delivered, so natural improvement could see him go to the next level.

Well weighted, drawn ideally—top chance to keep the streak alive.
