Goulburn Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday 11th Feb

Race 1 - 1:15PM GOULBURN MAZDA & ISUZU UTE COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Moderate—suited to those settling on speed.

  • Market Watch: Brannum ($7.00) – first-up for a strong yard, could firm late.

A low-depth Maiden Plate kicks off the card at Goulburn, with Adventure Seeker looking well-placed to resume a winner. The filly showed promise in her first preparation and returned with a strong trial win at this track. She maps to settle on speed and should take plenty of catching in a race without much pressure.

Cammi has placed in two of four starts this prep and has the advantage of race fitness. She wasn’t suited last start but gets her chance here in weaker company.

Brannum, a newcomer to the Matthew Dale yard, hasn't trialled publicly since May 2024. The betting moves will be key to his chances on debut.

Beograd Boy has a strong place record and gets the inside draw but might lack the class to win.

Best to Back: 🏆

Adventure Seeker ($2.40) – Trialled well, maps well, hard to beat.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Cammi ($5.50) – Race fit, could be the danger if she jumps cleanly.

Race 2 - 1:50PM COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS @ GOULBURN MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Below average—on-speed runners may be advantaged.

  • Market Watch: Anne ($4.20) and Sassy Ausbred ($6.00) – both first-starters from strong stables, betting will be key.

A Maiden Plate over 1200m where Sweet Patriot looks well-placed to break through after two solid runs this campaign. She was runner-up at Nowra before hitting the line well at Port Macquarie. From barrier one, she maps to lead or box seat and should be tough to beat, especially if the track deteriorates with rain.

Anne debuts for the John O’Shea stable and has had two quiet trials at Rosehill. The yard is in good form, and she has the talent to figure first-up.

Ischyros is incredibly consistent, having placed in all five starts this prep. The outside draw makes things tricky, but race fitness will be an advantage, particularly if the track is rain-affected.

Sassy Ausbred has placed in both trials and looks one of the more promising newcomers. Keep an eye on the market.

Best to Back: 🏆

Sweet Patriot ($3.00) – Race fit, maps to lead, handles all conditions.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Ischyros ($6.50) – Ultra-consistent, can run into the finish despite the wide draw.

Race 3. (12:58) Winning Edge Presentations Handicap (68) 1400m

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Average—on-pacers should get their chance.

  • Market Watch: Tjaka ($4.20) – No trials this prep, betting will tell the stor

  • Love The Cube brings city-level trial form into this and should be hard to beat, while Aegipan is fit and racing well. Tjaka is the X-factor—if she’s improved, she could surprise. 🚀

A Class 1 Handicap over 1200m where Love The Cube resumes after a lengthy spell and looks ready to fire fresh. His two recent trials have been sharp, and his Hawkesbury maiden win last prep was strong. If he produces that form first-up, he’ll be tough to hold out.

Tjaka showed plenty of promise in her first prep, winning on debut before finishing second at Albury. She contested a Highway at Randwick before being spelled and resumes without a public trial. If ready, she’s a big chance.

Aegipan broke his maiden here last start after racing wide on speed and still proving too strong. He maps to settle near the front again and won’t be easy to pass.

Spirit Lake resumes after a spell and has the speed to give a sight from the front. If the rain arrives, her wet track ability could be an asset.

Best to Back: 🏆

Love The Cube ($3.50) – Trialled well, progressive type, sharp fresh.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Aegipan ($6.00) – On-speed winner last start, handles all conditions.

Race 4. (13:30) Strutt Race 4 - 3:05PM ICU SECURITY CAMERAS BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Above average—expect early speed from multiple runners.

  • Market Watch: Soho Sushi ($5.50) – Can she repeat her first-up win?

  • A competitive sprint where Bode Akuna is well-placed to go back-to-back, while Plaza has a key advantage if the track gets wet. Expect a strong tempo, suiting those who can finish off well. 🚀

A Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1000m, where Bode Akuna returns to the track after a dominant win last start. He’s 2/2 at this track and distance and has a solid wet-track profile, making him hard to beat if the rain arrives.

Plaza will push forward from a good draw and is unbeaten in two starts on soft ground. She was caught wide last start but stuck on well—big improver if conditions suit.

Soho Sushi resumes after a Queanbeyan win and sticks to her pet 1000m trip. She maps to sit just off the pace and can be dangerous with a strong late burst.

Princeton is a natural leader and will give a sight from the front. He’ll need to handle any rain-affected ground but could prove hard to run down.

Best to Back: 🏆

Bode Akuna ($3.20) – Loves the track, proven winner, handles all conditions.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Plaza ($6.50) – Strong wet-track form, drawn to lead, suited at 1000m.

Race 5 - 3:45PM TAB.COM.AU COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Average—expect Bobotov and Big Time Charlie to roll forward and control the speed.

  • Market Watch: It Is To Be ($5.00) – Can he back up his impressive maiden win?

  • A competitive mile event where It Is To Be brings strong form and Flashy Icon is primed to run well at the distance. Expect Bobotov to give a strong sight on speed. 🚀

A 1600m Class 1 Handicap, where It Is To Be enters off a strong maiden win at Wagga. He let down impressively over this trip and should be suited staying at the mile.

Flashy Icon has been hitting the line strongly and looks ready to peak at 1600m. He’s had little luck in recent runs but should be suited by a more genuine tempo.

Bobotov has the best tactical speed of the main chances and maps to land on speed from gate one. He was beaten less than a length last start and will take catching.

Big Time Charlie is the likely leader and comes off a narrow defeat at Albury. If left alone in front, he could prove hard to run down.

Best to Back: 🏆

It Is To Be ($5.00) – Strong last-start win, can measure up again.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Flashy Icon ($6.50) – Looks ready to peak at the mile, strong late.

Race 6 - 4:20PM SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS FOODS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Above average—suits horses who can take a sit and finish strong.

  • Market Watch: Spirits Burn Deep is too short at $2.60—expect drift closer to race time

  • A competitive Benchmark 58 where Airliner looks set to peak and Super Sunny Seeya gets an ideal run from the draw. 🚀

A 1300m Benchmark 58 Handicap, featuring several horses dropping back from tougher races. Expect an above-average tempo, with Wonder Brahma and Merchant Reign pushing forward early.

Airliner is the class runner, having competed in Highway races. He was huge last start, flashing home from an impossible position to run fourth. Up to 1300m now, maps better, and looks ready to win.

Super Sunny Seeya was just beaten last start at Wagga and maps for a soft run from the inside draw. Fit and firing, he looks the main danger.

Spirits Burn Deep has struggled in recent Highway runs but was placed at Rosehill last August. The drop in grade suits, but the current price is too short.

Dubai Centre resumes and has a great record at this track, including a win. If the track is wet, his chances improve significantly.

Best to Back: 🏆

Airliner ($4.20) – Drops in grade, strong last start, ready to win.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Super Sunny Seeya ($6.00) – Peaking now, maps well, and gets every chance.

Race 7 - 4:55PM GOULBURN AUSTRALIA MAIDEN HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Average—should suit strong finishers like Hurstville Zagreb.

  • Market Watch: Heavy scratchings due to the wet track—betting fluctuations will be key

  • A race full of unknowns, but Hurstville Zagreb looks well-prepared to strike on debut, while Eyespy The Eagle has the benefit of race experience and tactical speed. 🚀

A 1500m Maiden Plate with several debutants and lightly raced gallopers looking to break through. Expect an average tempo, with Eyespy The Eagle and Glory pressing forward.

Hurstville Zagreb has been well-prepared for his debut, having had five trials, finishing second in his last two. He looks a progressive stayer in the making and should be strong late over the 1500m.

Eyespy The Eagle was solid on debut at Newcastle, sticking on well after racing on the pace. He benefits from that run and drops in class here.

Darn Cute has race fitness on his side and should appreciate the step up in trip. The wet track is a query, but this is an easier assignment.

Pierant ran into trouble first-up and was unable to finish off. The step up to 1500m should help, and he is an improver second-up in this grade.

Best to Back: 🏆

Hurstville Zagreb ($3.60) – Well-trialled, bred to get over ground, strong late.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Eyespy The Eagle ($6.00) – Good debut, drops in class, maps well on-speed.

Race 8 - 5:30PM WEDDINGS @ GDRC CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Key Insights for Punters:

  • Race Tempo: Above average—on-pacers like Savoldi and Money Team get their chance.

  • Market Watch: Savoldi was well-backed first-up—expect support again.

  • A race where early positioning will be key, but Savoldi gets the class drop and fitness edge, while Maybe Maureen is ready to peak second-up over her ideal trip. 🚀

A 1200m Class 1 Handicap with a mix of race-fit gallopers and promising lightly raced types. Expect a genuine tempo, with Savoldi and Money Team likely to push forward early.

Savoldi was a beaten favorite fresh at Wyong but drops in class here and should be fitter second-up. Despite the wide gate, he has the early speed to find a good spot and is the one to beat.

Maybe Maureen was solid when resuming at Moruya, running on strongly for second. She gets out to 1200m, which looks ideal, and should be even better second-up.

Anarita broke through at Tamworth last start and should be competitive again. She maps well and can settle closer than most of her rivals.

Can't Touch This has race fitness on her side, winning two back at Nowra before having excuses last start. She can bounce back from a soft draw.

Best to Back: 🏆

Savoldi ($3.50) – Fitter, drops in class, strong on-speed chance.

Best Value: 💰

🎯 Maybe Maureen ($7.00) – Good return run, extra distance suits, will be strong late.
